Echemar, new logistics partner and the official sponsor of the Itzulia Basque Country, Itzulia Women and the Clásica San Sebastián

  • Echemar will sponsor the best team at each stage, presenting them with a trophy at the start of the next day.

The 3 cycling events organised by OCETA: the Itzulia Basque Country, Itzulia Women and Clásica San Sebastián, are to be supported by Gipuzkoan freight forwarding company Echemar, as logistics partner and the official sponsor of all 3 races. Echemar will provide nine trucks that will be used to transport all of the infrastructure necessary to run each race.

Echemar will also sponsor the prize for the best team in each stage. This year, in addition to daily podium appearances, the leading riders for each race will wear red identification bibs.

Jose Manuel Echarri, General Manager of Echemar, commented that “the Itzulia and the Clásica have historically generated a lot of expectation in our region and beyond, and continue to do so today. We are excited to be a part of each race by contributing our platforms and logistics. To highlight the supportive value of transport in Guipuzcoa for its society.

Julián Eraso, president of the Itzulia organising association, OCETA, commented at the signing ceremony that “our race events move from one city to another every day and must be ready in a matter of hours to welcome the best cyclists in the world. It’s hard work, and it is vital for the race. Adding that, “we are particularly happy and proud that a Basque company based on teamwork will be presenting the award for best team at each race”.

About Echemar

Transportes Echemar is one of the largest international road forwarding companies in the Basque Country. Based in Lezo, the company celebrates its 50th anniversary by supporting the organisation of Itzulia. With its modern fleet of more than 300 trucks, the company recently registered the first Mercedes electric truck in Spain, which will be present during certain stages, a sign of its commitment to the environment. “We are very excited about the award for the best team, as our job would not be possible were it not for the work of the entire team: drivers, office, workshop, etc. We are one big family”, stated Echemar.
