The Clásica San Sebastián 2025 has been officially presented

  • Twenty-four teams are set to start the 44th edition of the Clásica San Sebastián.
  • Big names from the international peloton have pre-registered

Today, 29 July, the official presentation of the Clásica San Sebastián 2025 took place at San Sebastián City Hall. Among the attendees were Eneko Goia, Mayor of San Sebastián; Iñaki Gabarain, Sports Councillor for Donostia; Goizane Álvarez, Provincial Deputy for Culture, Cooperation, Youth and Sports at the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa; Izaskun Vázquez, Service Manager and Senior Occupational Risk Prevention Technician at FCC; and Javier Riaño, President of OCETA.

During the ceremony, the official routes were presented, along with the changes compared to last year. Javier Riaño, OCETA president, shared his assessment of this year’s race with the attendees. “The Clásica San Sebastián marks its 44th edition on the World Tour calendar and is recognised as one of the most important Classics of the year”. He explained, “This year, we’re returning to the Murgil climb and finishing on the Boulevard in San Sebastián.”

The Clásica San Sebastián reflects Gipuzkoa’s commitment to an egalitarian sport, where women and men compete under the same conditions: the same route, equal visibility, and equal prizes. It reflects a view of sport as a tool for cohesion, equity, and collective progress. Gipuzkoa vibrates with cycling, and does so with a commitment to equality,” said Goizane Álvarez, Deputy for Culture and Sports.

Once again, the company sponsoring the intermediate sprints, UTE EASO GARBIA (a joint venture between FCC Medio Ambiente and Serbitzu Elkartea), has expressed its satisfaction at participating in the Clásica.

“Whether live or through the media, we will be able to appreciate the diversity of our magnificent territory, which we care for with special dedication in maintaining street cleaning, beaches, ports, and the selective collection of urban waste.” On behalf of UTE EASO GARBIA, we sincerely hope it will be an unforgettable day filled with excitement for everyone.

Ibon Barbería, Communications Director of Transportes Echemar, said in his speech, “At Echemar, we are truly proud to announce that, for the third consecutive year, we will be providing logistical support for the most emblematic cycling race in our region. This collaboration not only reinforces our commitment to sport and sustainable mobility, but also to the international promotion of Gipuzkoa as a benchmark for organising top-level events.

Our work will once again be essential in ensuring that everything runs smoothly – from the transport of materials and signage to precise loading and unloading schedules. We do so with responsibility towards our territory, professionalism, and a passion rooted in both the sport and the historic town.”

He closed his speech by thanking “the organisers of the Clásica San Sebastián for trusting us once again. We will continue pedalling together, with our sights set on the future and our hearts rooted in our land.”

Joseba Urkiola closed the presentation ceremony by explaining how to follow the race: The broadcast will begin at 14:30 on ETB1, and will be live. The broadcast will be carried out by a new mobile unit and will be available in UHD with 4K resolution via HBBTV. Thanks to advanced technology, EITB will be able to deliver a high-quality broadcast. The race will be commentated on by Fermín Aramendi, Xabier Usabiaga, and Alfonso Arroyo. The race can also be followed in detail on Euskadi Irratia, Radio Euskadi, and eitb.eus.”

The provisional registration list includes great cyclists such as Remco Evenepoel y Mikel Landa (Soudal Quick-Step), Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling Team), Juan Ayuso and Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates), Neilson Powless and Jefferson Cepeda (EF Education – EasyPost), Giulio Ciccone and Tao Geoghegan Hart (Lidl – Trek), Aleksandr Vlasov (Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe), Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious) and Ion Izagirre and Alex Aranburu (Cofidis).

A celebration of cycling

The organisers of the Clásica hope that on Friday, 1 August, with the team presentations on the terrace in front of San Sebastián Town Hall, and on 2 August with the race itself, a great cycling celebration will take place in San Sebastián and throughout Gipuzkoa.
