- Murgil climb returns to the Clásica San Sebastián!
- The 2025 edition will be 211 km long, with 6 scoring mountain passes.
- The race’s start and finish return to the Boulevard area.
Preparations are well underway for the 44th edition of the Clásica San Sebastián – Donostia Klasikoa. The major international cycling event in Euskadi will take place on Saturday, 2 August 2025, once again bringing together the top riders of the WorldTour peloton on a demanding route that, this year, sees the return of the iconic Murgil climb as the decisive point before the finish line.
As in previous editions, the race will start and finish on Donostia’s Boulevard – one of the city’s most iconic spots and a regular meeting point for fans and cyclists alike. The neutralised start is scheduled for 11:20 am.
Murgil is back to play judge in the final showdown
The 2025 route, covering just over 211 kilometres, retains the race’s traditional character, blending challenging terrain with stunning landscapes and thrilling action. The climbs of Jaizkibel and Erlaitz will once again shape the race, but it will be the very steep ascent of Murgil-Tontorra, less than 10 km from the finish, that will ultimately decide the contenders for victory.
This 2-kilometre wall, featuring gradients exceeding 20%, returns after its absence in 2024 and promises to deliver intense excitement in the race’s finale.
A route for climbers: over 4,150 metres of elevation gain and six climbs to conquer
This edition’s route features a cumulative elevation gain of over 4,150 metres, making it one of the most demanding courses on the WorldTour calendar. Throughout the day, the peloton will face six climbs, each with the potential to break up the race and offer opportunities to the boldest riders.
The Clásica San Sebastián 2025 will once again serve as a qualifying event for the UCI WorldTour, so the participation of the leading figures in international cycling is expected.
Donostia will once again become a cycling festival on the first Saturday of August.
